GET SEEN!

How to get your film seen when you don’t have a blockbuster budget

Watch this short video for a very important message from Deborah at Tonic:

Hello, it’s Deborah here,

Now you’ve watched the video, you’ll find all the information you need below.

Get Seen! is for you if you’re a film maker or producer with a film, or one in the making. You want to know how to get your film in front of audiences but you don’t know where to start or what to do.

You might even be disillusioned with traditional methods of distribution and want to do things differently.

Either way, you love the idea of retaining the rights and revenues to your film, and having a greater creative and financial control over its release.

Get Seen! is definitely for you!

By the end of this programme, you’ll know EXACTLY what you need to do to get your film seen. You’ll:

  • Understand what you need to know and do to make your film stand out enough to reach those crucial audiences
  • Know the key steps you need to take to distribute and market your film yourself
  • Establish the right positioning and target audiences for your film so you can reach them easily and effectively
  • Get fully clued up on the money side of releasing your film, including funding options, forecasting and budgeting

My passion is to help filmmakers get their films out there, but I know from experience just how challenging that is, so I’ve developed this unique programme where I provide you with the right information, steps and tips to make it a reality.

With Get Seen! you’re in very safe hands. For over 25 years, I’ve been working across all aspects of marketing and distribution, at companies like Artificial Eye, Curzon Cinemas, Icon, Contender Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox and Medusa.

Get Seen is a really, really useful tool for upcoming filmmakers. In a industry which is rapidly changing and becoming increasingly competitive having a resource such as Get Seen distills this complicated and sometimes forbidding business into helpful actionable bites. Its been very helpful to me and my partners in helping think broader and creatively about how to bring our film to market.
- Vijay Sodhi, Producer, RAMA: THE RISE OF DHARMA

Get Seen is a must-have tool for any filmmaker looking to get their film noticed in a highly competitive and hard-to-navigate industry. I have found it invaluable in looking at my film from a different perspective. For a film like mine, the advice on how to navigate the social media side of a release was much-needed and a real eye opener. Thinking about these things in the pre-awareness stage and having unbiased advice from an industry professional means that I feel more confident in ensuring my film gets in to the right hands.
- Jessie Grace Mellor, filmmaker, COMING UP

Very insightful, well-structured & well-made course for everyone who wants to get to know more about film distribution and how to get your own film out there. It helped me a lot seeing my film a from a new perspective and thinking in terms of target audience.
- Nikias Chryssos, filmmaker

Deborah generously shared her fantastic wealth of knowledge of film marketing and distribution during the EU MEDIA funded Making Waves training in Berlin. Her coaching of the team was stellar.
- Suzy Gillet, Producer, Making Waves, London Film School

Deborah Rowland is a marketing maven. From indie, crossover or mainstream titles, her knowledge and attention to detail brings a campaign alive and gives it the best shot in a tough market.
- Kate Gerova, creative director Birds Eye View

I was lucky to have Deborah as a mentor. She is funny, intelligent and inspirational, and I learned a lot through our case studies, workshops and conversation. Every session was well-structured, informative and pleasant. I would love to work together with her again as I'm sure her input will be beneficial for my future projects.
- Senia Dremstrup, Producer – Zentropa

I found Deborah's delivery of her seminar "Distribution Planning - putting together the release strategy" during the course, enlightening, informative and creative - delivered with such clarity, confidence and expertise.
- Kate Hide, Business & Content Manager, HanWay

Deborah was my tutor at the Media Business School course "Marketing and International Distribution". She has given me concrete tools to work with, ideas to develop and direct feedback of what could work in real life. Deborah did an amazing job in teaching me that marketing starts with the simplest things, but can go to the craziest ideas. Each film requests its unique strategy and project management to reach its audience, and at the end of the day, we are doing this job to reach people.
- Maja Zaric, International Sales, East West Distribution

I’ve developed Get Seen! in response to filmmakers, like you, desperate for solid, practical distribution and marketing advice and expertise. I’ve packed as much as I can of my experience into this programme. I really want people to see your film!
